How many Mints are there?

There are over 600 varieties of mint and I try to add a new kind to my collection every year.  Mint is quite easy to take care of, but you need to be mindful that if not planted carefully it can spread like crazy.  It likes sun to part shade and water when the soil feels dry.  It can be planted in containers or put it in a container and bury so just the lip is sticking out in the garden (to prevent spread).

Banana Mint: smells like a banana and tastes like a banana!!  Anyone hunger for chocolate banana mint muffins?  Or how about an unique tea.

Orange Mint: smells like oranges and is perfect for teas, salads, and lemonades.

Pineapple Mint: A beautiful mint with green leaves, splotched with white.

Apple Mint: is an upright mint.  Perfect to make jellies or teas.

Lemon Mint: a hybrid mint, a cross between lime and apple mint.  Makes a delicious iced tea or a refreshing ice cream or a spiced up Lemonade.

Grapefruit Mint: spearmint taste with strong grapefruit tones.  Perfect for salads, jellies, or tea.

Peppermint: a hybrid mint, a cross between watermint and spearmint.  Peppermint can be used in teas, baking, and in canning.  The flowers attract bees.

Variegated Peppermint: pretty white and green leaves.  Similar to peppermint, except the leaves are different.

Sweet Pear: a slight pear flavor/scent.

Spearmint: Used to flavor teas, jellies, summer drinks, and salads..

Mint Mojito-The mojito, made with rum, sugar, lime juice and Cuba’s unique mojito mint.

Mint: The classic mint.

Kentucky Colonel Spearmint: a hybrid of applemint and spearmint so it has  a more fruity smell/flavor than spearmint.

Ginger Mint: a beautiful mint with orange and yellow leaves.  Make some tea to calm an upset stomach.

Chocolate Mint: One of my favorite mints.  Reminds me of after dinner mints.  Perfect for jelly, chocolate mint cake, or tea.

Berries and Cream Mint: sweet and fruity

English Mint: is a sweet, spearmint type rather than a peppermint

Indian Mint: Is a cascading mint so it should be grown in tall containers or hanging baskets.  It is highly fragment and blooms tiny white flowers.

Margarita Mint: a lime flavored/scented mint.

Winter Green Mint: reminiscent of the candy.  Beautiful green/yellow leaves.
